The Akella Raghavendra Foundation owes its genesis to Mr. Akella Raghavendra and established in the year 2013(Regd. No. 1089/2013) and today is reputed for its several programs for the upliftment of the socially and economically downtrodden, and the visually challenged, we have a think tank of academacians , toppers and senior civil servants as a guiding force.
Our foundation networks with various groups, agencies and individuals whose fundamental responsibility is to identify schools, colleges and communities that are in need. What we have created is called a Life Building Training Program which incorporates all the important skills necessary for students to carry forward their careers, through communication, English, personality development and social, cultural, scientific and ecological awareness.
Akella foundation imparts personality and communication development programs across all schools and colleges in the state. We have successfully covered over a hundred schools in the recent past and aim to cover more than a thousand schools in the near future. The revenues that are generated through the fees collected from schools for imparting this program are then directed to the trust activities of our foundation. We have been endeavouring to bring about a revolution in the lives of socially and economically deprived classes and transform their lives by strengthening them through various schemes and programs. These programs help them develop their skills, knowledge and outlook, and subsequently help overcome their inherent deficiencies to live independently and successfully. Our focus is essentially on isolated minority groups, and economically, socially and culturally downtrodden and impoverished communities. Our ideology is centered on training and provision of social and scientific awareness to these communities based on which they will be able to help themselves and also help better their immediate neighbourhood. The foundation also emphasises on creation of safe drinking water facilities and rural sanitation by helping communities come together to address this humongous need.
One of the key areas on which our foundation focuses is the integration of moral studies in school, college and youth training programs. Considering the lack of emphasis by school managements on moral education, it is indubitable that many students passing out from schools possess limited knowledge of morals and ethics. This is a dangerous trend and can lead to chaos in our future societies. Our foundation has therefore created programs which also imbibe and integrate these vital human and social values in regular training programs with the result that all students undergoing our trainings will also have covered understanding these essential matters.
I want you to understand that your first duty is to humanity. I want others to look at us and see that we care not just about ourselves but about others - Madam C.J. Walker
Our prime focus is on students about to finish their tenth standard and students who are about to graduate from colleges. These include even B.Tech MBA colleges. Our trust believes that students passing out from these two age groups are mostly the ones who need correct guidance and skills to prepare them for their own independent future careers. Since the onus is on improvement of communication skills, English and personality development, the students are trained accordingly are upon completing the training are better equipped with these essential life skills.
Many villages have scores of youth who are either unemployed or not sufficiently employed in families with meagre income levels. We have developed schemes for such youth and in association with local village communities the targeted members are grouped and trained. Akella foundation's trained volunteers and eminent personalities are then organised to deliver the developmental programs. These training and skill development programs stretch from a few days to a few months based on the type of programme offered. The foundation also coordinates with various industries located in close vicinities to the village, and organises their internship or even employment with the organisations. Subsequently the youth through their skills will be able to begin living independently.
Akella foundation regularly identifies such students who are both orphaned and visually challenged and thereby are at a complete loss of state. These students are provided with all educational support by way of their school and exam fees, clothes, books and requisite coaching support. Their immediate guardians are provided with certain remuneration which can be used by them towards the boarding costs of the said students.
